Founded by Sue Archer in 2001, Archer Consulting Limited has quickly grown into a thriving consultancy providing project management services to take education capital projects from inception through to completion.

Director’s profile

After graduating in 1990 with an honours degree in Quantity Surveying, Sue started her career working for John Laing Construction.  After achieving chartered surveyor status in 1992, Sue made a radical career change and joined the Fast Stream management development programme of the Civil Service!

Based in the Department for Education, Sue had a variety of postings but from 1996 specialised in early years and childcare.  This meant providing policy advice to Government Ministers and support to local authorities and national organisations on a wide range of related policies, including the creation of free nursery education for three and four year olds and Sure Start.

In 2001 Sue left the DfE to set up her own consultancy company to project manage the development of education facilities such as children’s centres and, more recently, Free Schools.

Sue leads on many of the projects delivered by Archer Consulting Limited, but often works with a wider network of other consultants to ensure the client’s needs are always met.

In her spare time Sue is actively involved in many schemes including the governance of schools, and was until recently, Chair of her village primary school.
